On the Hook by Francisco X. Stork

DNF @ p.63

This book just isn't clicking with me. I'm not too keen on the narration and Hector just feels like a very bland protagonist. I think the community dynamics and the drama are pretty well done-- the villain is genuinely terrifying-- but for whatever reason, I'm just not engaged with the book at all. I could see this being a hit read with someone else, but I kept comparing it unfavorably to books like YAQUI DELGADO and SOMEWHERE BETWEEN BITTER AND SWEET, which are more in line with the types of YA books I enjoy.

Thanks to the publisher for sending me a copy in exchange for an honest review!
