High Energy by Dara Joy

DNF @ p.50

Leisure Books is a lot like Love Spell in that a lot of what they offer is super cheesy and some of it is good cheesy and some of it is bad cheesy. Sadly, this is bad cheesy. I think I've read one Dara Joy book before and it was okay, but that was one of her historical ones and this is a contemporary. I was a little worried when I found out that the meet-cute hinges on a heroine signing up for what she thinks is a psychics seminar, only to find out-- publicly-- that it's a physics seminar. I don't care that the heroine isn't a brain trust but man, this book is EXHAUSTING. It has that drippy, forced tone that so many 90s "humor" chick-lits had, and I know a lot of people find that tone funny but I can't stand it.

The cover is hilarious, though.

1 out of 5 stars
